Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.” |
As Jesus was approaching the time of his arrest and crucifixion, he went to the Garden of Gethsemane on the Mount of Olives to pray. He invited the disciples to watch and pray with him, but in their exhaustion and distress, they fell asleep. (See Mark 14:32-41)
Each year, as Christians around the world approach Easter, we hear this same invitation from Jesus, to meet him in the Garden, to watch and pray with him, to remember how He suffered on our behalf. This year, in the midst of global pandemic, Jesus is inviting us to the Garden, in the midst of our distress and exhaustion, to wait with Him, to recall His suffering, and to remember that Resurrection is coming.
We invite you to watch and pray with Jesus and others from InterVarsity in Florida in an all night watch from the Garden to the Cross.
